TFCC's Mobile Outage Reporting website enables utility customers to report power outages or get outage status right on their mobile devices - Smartphones, iPhones, or other Internet-enabled PDA devices.
It all takes place on a utility website with a ".mobi" extension, the only top level domain intended solely for mobile web use. The mobile websites are designed specifically for the mobile environment and integrated with utilities' HVCA systems to provide similar capabilities as those of the IVR systems.
A recent study of wireless device users indicated that 56% of participants considered mobile Internet access to be ‘Very Important' or ‘Important'. The same study indicated that 53% of participants access the Internet using their mobile phones at least once a week. Further, a full 84% of participants would be interested in knowing whether certain sites are easily accessible via the Internet on their mobile phones.
